Our History

On July 1, 2014, Vanguard Medical Corporation took over an existing practice Shafter Rural Health Care Clinic. This facility was previously owned and operated by Dr. Jae Joon Kim who has served the community since the early 1980s. This site is located at 565 Kern Street in Shafter, CA 93263.

Due to an exponential growth in this location, we expanded our services by opening a second site at 845 7th Street, Wasco, CA 93280 as of January 2, 2018. Our Bakersfield location opened in April 6, 2020 at 500 Old River Road, Suite 250, Bakersfield, CA 93311 and relocated to 8150 Hageman Rd, Bakersfield, CA 93312 on March 6, 2023.

We open Monday through Friday from 8 – 5 pm. All of our staff personnel are bilingual and majority of our providers also speak Spanish in addition to other languages such as Mandarin, Tagalog, and Korean. We always open our doors for same day appointment and walk-ins.

Our providers as well as the entire management team have deep roots in the rural community and have worked in some capacity as a safety net provider/administration. Our entire staff is committed to providing the highest quality of care to our patients and we are dedicated to serve the underserved population.
